4 IT Updates That Might Affect You

December 18, 2018

1. Eduroam WiFi Certificate Starts Dec. 19
Starting Dec. 19, when connecting to eduroam, you might see a certificate message asking you to trust it, especially on mobile devices. Go ahead and select trust. You also might need to forget the network and re-connect. This is happening because the eduroam certificate had to be removed.

2. Improving Google Add-ons Performance
The way items are organized in the Add-ons drop-down menu for Doc, Sheets and Slides is slowing performance, especially in Sheets. To improve performance, starting Dec. 19, individual add-ons that are currently displayed in the drop-down menu will be available by first selecting Manage add-ons. They will then display. Find the Add-on you want and click Manage. It will be added to that file.

3. Google Contacts Getting Same Look as Gmail & GCalendar
Contacts will soon have the more colorful look and feel as Gmail and GCalendar. You can use it now by going into Contacts and Selecting Try Contacts preview, which is located at the bottom of the left-side menu on the screen.

Starting Jan. 15, ,the new look will become the default view; however, customers can still revert to the classic view by selecting Switch to old version, located at the bottom of the left-side menu on the screen.

Starting Feb. 12, the new look will be permanent. (More details to be sent in early January.)
