Protect Sensitive Data: Try Spirion, A Data Scanning Tool

August 1, 2017

Information privacy is important to a healthy University environment. Measures to safeguard sensitive information from unauthorized access are equally important, which is why the Spirion Sensitive Data Finder is now available on your computer. Spirion software allows employees to search their computers for Social Security numbers (SSN) and credit card information.

How to Use Spirion Sensitive Data Finder

You can run Spirion on your Mac or Windows machine as often as you’d like to see if Social Security numbers (SSNs) and/or credit card information are stored on it. These are considered Highly Restricted Level 3 data and should never be stored on a hard drive. (See the University’s Guideline for Data Handling about our data classification system and appropriate storage options.)
