ANNOUNCEMENTS:

  1. “My UNC Charlotte” Will Replace 49er Express this Fall

Vendor support for the system version that runs 49er Express ends this fall. This said, a new, user-friendly system has been built to replace it, named My UNC Charlotte or my.uncc.edu. User testing has completed and on Monday, October 5, My UNC Charlotte will soft-launch. It will run in tandem with 49er Express through mid-November, at which time 49er Express will fully retire.

On October 5, you’re encouraged to access My UNC Charlotte and provide feedback. You can:

(a) Log directly into my.uncc.edu (beginning October 5...it’s still in test mode right now!)

(b) When you login to 49er Express, click the option to use my.uncc.edu on the landing page.

When 49er Express retires mid-November, its site, 49erexpress.uncc.edu, will automatically redirect to my.uncc.edu for one year. Additionally, the 49er Express link on the University’s home page will change to My UNC Charlotte at this time.

2. Saving You Time: System Login Requests

Have Been Reduced

A Single Sign On system, or SSO, has been installed that reduces the amount of times you need to re-login when entering multiple systems. Examples of systems now on SSO are: Google Apps, Moodle, PeopleAdmin, Parking Permits and the new My UNC Charlotte. Due to security policies, there are still some systems that require another login; however, you will find a reduction in your overall re-login experience.

3. Protect Your Privacy: Remember to Logout of

Shared Computers

The new Single Sign On system (per #2), highlights the importance of logging out of ALL of your accounts, especially on shared computers. Just logging off the computer or closing the browser may not be enough.

For example, you’re teaching a class using a smart podium with the presenter/presents account. During class you not only used My UNC Charlotte, but you also used your Gmail account. If you shutdown the computer without logging out of your Gmail account, the next person will have access to your Gmail account. Be on the lookout for more messages and reminders to help you keep your information secure!
