Setup for PC & Mac

PC Setup

You'll need: Wireless Network Interface Card (NIC)
802.11b/g compatible/Internal or External
Windows 7
  1. Click Control Panel on the pop-up menu.
  2. Under Network and Internet, click Connect to the Internet.
  3. Click Wireless.
  4. Click the uncc49er connection in the pop-up box.
  5. Check the Connect automatically box, then click Connect.
Windows Vista
  1. Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner.
  2. Click Connect to on the pop-up menu.
  3. Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner.
  4. If uncc49er does not appear in the list of available networks, click Set Up a Connection or Network below the list of available networks.
  5. Click Manually connect to a wireless network.
  6. Network Name = uncc49er (all lower case)
    Security Type = No authentication (open)
    Make sure both boxes at the bottom are checked.
    Click Next and Close.
Windows XP
  1. Click the blue Start button in the lower left-hand corner.
  2. Click Control Panel on the pop-up menu.
  3. Double-click Network Connections.
  4. Single-click Wireless Network Connection.
  5. Under Network Tasks, click View available wireless networks.
  6. In the Wireless Network Connection window, click Change the order of preferred networks under Related Tasks.
  7. Under Preferred Networks, click Add.
  8. Network Name = uncc49er (all lower case)
    Network Authentication = Open
    Data Encryption = Disabled
    Click OK in both boxes.

Mac Setup

You'll need: Apple Macintosh OS X version 10.2.x or higher
  Apple’s AirPort or AirPort Extreme
(varies with model) or a compatible 802.11b/g device.*
  * If using a third party device, refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  1. Click Airport Utility beside the battery icon.
  2. Click Join Other Network.
  3. Network Name = uncc49er (all lower case)
  4. Set security to None and click Join.
