Email Client Setup

You must login to NinerMail through 49er Express or Outlook Web App before you can reconfigure your email client on your personal device.

If you're having problems with device setup, first follow these 3 steps (in this order):

  1. Change your password at Password Manager
  2. Login to NinerMail with your NinerNET username and password
  3. Login to 49er Express and click the NinerMail email icon

Outlook 2010 Exchange Settings

  1. Launch Outlook 2010
    If this is your first time accessing Outlook 2010, the Outlook Startup Wizard will appear. Click Next
     
  2. On the Account Configuration page, choose Yes, then click Next
     
  3. On the Add New Account page, enter the following:
    Name:  your name (as you would like it to appear on sent email)
    Email Address: username@uncc.edu
    Password: NinerNet password
    Click Next
     
  4. You may be prompted to enter your username and password up to three times:
    Username: username@uncc.edu
    Password: NinerNet password
    Check Remember my password, then click OK
    When the configuration is complete, the wizard will show the message, “Your email account is successfully configured
     
  5. Click Finish to close the wizard, unless you'd like to configure Cached Exchange Mode
     
  6. To store a copy of your messages on your computer, you can configure Outlook for Cached Exchange Mode
    Click Manually configure server settings
    The Finish button will change to a Next button
    Click Next and check Use Cached Exchange Mode.  Click Finish.

Mac Mail Exchange Settings

  1. Launch Mac Mail
    If this is your first time opening Mac Mail, you will get a wizard welcoming you to the program
     
  2. Enter the following:
    Full Name:  your name (as you would like it to appear on sent email)
    Email Addres:  your full email address
    Password: your NinerNet password
    Click Continue
     
  3. Mac Mail should automatically find the Exchange 2007 mail server
    Place a check in the Calendar Events & Contacts boxes if you'd like to sync than information, then click Create

Mac Mail IMAP Settings

  1. Launch Mac Mail
    If this is your first time opening Mac Mail, you will get a wizard welcoming you to the program
     
  2. Enter the following:
    Full Name:  your name (as you would like it to appear on sent email)
    Email Addres:  your full email address
    Password - leave this blank
    Click Continue, twice
     
  3. Incoming mail server settings:
    Account Type: IMAP
    Description: (ex. NinerMail)
    Incoming Mail Server: outlook.office365.com
    Username: username@uncc.edu
    Password: NinerNet password
    Click Continue
     
  4. Outgoing mail server settings:
    Description: (ex. NinerMail)
    Outgoing Mail Server:  outlook.office365.com
    Check Only use this server
    Check Use Authentication
    Username & password should automatically fill - if not, the username is your full email address and the password is your NinerNet password
    Click Continue
     
  5. Check Take Account Online and click Create

Adding an Additional Account

  1. Launch Mac Mail
  2. Go to File > Add Account
  3. Jump to Step 2 above
