Take a quick glance at the most important things you'll need to know to make your computing at UNC Charlotte a success.
- Activate your NinerNET account with Password Manager
After you activate your NinerNET account, you can login to 49er Express and get access to University email, course information, grades, registration, financial accounts and more.
Login with your NinerNET account to campus computers in the Student Computing labs or Atkins Library and you'll get access to software applications, high speed Internet and 200MB of personal storage space on your H:\drive for files and web pages.
Your NinerNET account remains in effect for as long as your are enrolled in classes. If a student does not register for classes during two consecutive terms (not counting summer), the NinerNET account is deactivated after the add/drop period fo the second term and access to 49er Express, email and the University network is removed.
Access to your academic and student account history is also available through direct access to Banner Self Service.
ITS computing labs are located in Barnard and are open 24/7. In the Barnard computer labs, you can login to the University network with your NinerNET account and get access to software, high speed Internet and network file storage. Black and white and color printing is also available in the labs.
The IT Service Desk is in Atkins 140C. You can walk over and get help from one of our Technical Assistants (TAs) or give us a call at 704.687.5500 option 2.
The Center for Teaching and Learning provides e-learning tools like Moodle and Saba Meeting. Online training with SkillPort makes it easy to learn how to use software applications like PowerPoint, Front Page and Dreamweaver. You can access thousands of online software courses, plus books online by logging in to SkillPort.
UNC Charlotte students are not required to own a computer (except those in the School of Architecture and the College of Engineering), however, many students find it helpful and convenient to do so.The IT Service Desk also provides additional computer guidelines including online computer store links for student purchases and information about purchasing discount software.
