The Project Management Office (PMO) of the Information and Technology Services (ITS) department was created as a resource for Project Managers and other interested staff to help achieve a greater degree of success in technology projects. Our primary objective is to provide project management best practices, project transparency, standardization, outreach and mentoring services.
The Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) defines project management as the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet project requirements. A "project" is briefly defined as a temporary endeavor undertaken to create a unique product, service or result. The ITS PMO is committed to following project management best practices, as espoused in the PMBOK, to complete these activities. This means managing expectations, budget, constraints, issues, risks, time, resources and quality of the service or product being delivered. The ITS Project Management Office will ensure repeatable and predictable success of project goals as well as the achievement of the customers' objective(s).
ITS is in the process of upgrading all staff machines they manage to Windows 7 and Office 2010.
