The IT checklist below can also help get you started:
Access Campus Wi-Fi
Eduroam is the secure campus Wi-Fi system. It is also available on other campuses throughout the United States and the world. See these eduroam FAQs. Internet service in residential housing is provided by Korcett, see this Housing and Residence Life web page for details.
Activate Your NinerNET Account
You received your NinerNET credentials when you were accepted; they give you access to University systems such as Banner Self Service, Canvas, eduroam Wi-Fi, Gmail and Password Manager. Follow the activation instructions in this FAQ. Your password will expire every 180 days. For more information, see NinerNET FAQs.
Buy a Computer
If you intend to buy a computer, check with your college first for any recommendations. COA+A and COE have hardware recommendations. Student computer discounts are available through the NinerTech Store.
Get Free Software
As soon as your NinerNET credentials are active, you can download Microsoft Office through the Student Advantage Program, see these FAQs. Once your classes start, additional software is available, see this listing.
Use My UNC Charlotte
Find popular services and information all in one place! Go to my.uncc.edu to access Gmail, your class schedule, financial aid information, campus happenings and much more.
