NinerMail for Students

NinerMail for Students

UNC Charlotte students use NinerMail, based on Microsoft’s Live@edu service, for their University email system. NinerMail includes full-featured email with 10 Gigabytes of storage space.

"Undeliverable" When Sending Email to Students

Student email addresses haven't changed but they no longer have mailboxes in our Exchange environment. If you have a student's email address saved in auto-complete memory (cache) in Outlook and you try to send email to them, Outlook will look in Exchange to find the mailbox and won't find it, since mailboxes are now in Microsoft's Live@EDU hosting environment.

If you receive an “Undeliverable” message when sending mail to a student, you will need to clear the auto-complete cache in Outlook and in OWA using the instructions below.

After you clear the student from cache, all future messages sent to that student will be delivered in NinerMail.

  • If you email students from Banner class lists or from Moodle Quick Mail, you will need to clear student addresses from your Outlook auto-complete cache.

Cached student email addresses can be deleted individually or you can clear the entire cache in Outlook.

Note: If you choose to clear all email addresses from your auto-complete cache, any email addresses that aren't in your Contacts list will be deleted.

Use the following steps to delete a student email address from memory:
